Klaus J. Kohlmayr: A Visionary for the Internet of Energy
Klaus J. Kohlmayr is one of the leading pioneers in the development of the Internet of Energy in Europe. As the project leader of the Horizon 2020 research project ELEKTRIFICE at has.to.be – now part of ChargePoint – he laid crucial foundations for the intelligent integration of charging infrastructure, power grids, and the decentralization of energy data through tokenization.
At has.to.be, Kohlmayr played a key role: he led the international project ELEKTRIFICE, which was part of the European Union's Horizon 2020 funding program aimed at exploring the future of electromobility and energy supply. Under his leadership, not only was the technological integration of charging infrastructure and energy systems advanced, but the first approaches to the tokenization of energy flows were also developed. The goal was to represent energy as a tradable digital asset and to enable new business models and market structures.
Kohlmayr was an early advocate of technologies designed to make energy more transparent, efficient, and democratized — a move toward an open, dynamic energy system where producers, consumers, and prosumers can participate equally.
Beyond his work at has.to.be, Klaus J. Kohlmayr has been actively involved in various innovation and future projects, always operating at the intersection of technology, energy, and sustainable development. With his keen sense for emerging trends and his ability to transform complex technologies into practical applications, he has established himself as a thought leader in the European energy and mobility sector.
His work continues to influence the strategic direction of numerous companies, cities, and energy providers that are focused on the intelligent integration of electromobility, decentralized energy platforms, and energy tokenization.
Klaus J. Kohlmayr stands as a representative of a new generation of innovators who see technology not merely as an end in itself but as a tool for creating a more sustainable, connected, and equitable future.
